Description
REGIONC reports the respondent's region of residence according to the Census classification.
Comparability
This variable is comparable across years, though data is not collected from all states in all surveys.
In the 1965-1966 USA national sample, information was collected on the Census region (REGIONC) but not the EPA region (REGIONE). In the 1965-66 USA Szalai Jackson sample, data were only collected in Michigan; accordingly REGIONC and REGIONE are both coded as Midwest.
Universe
- 1965: All persons from Michigan.
- 1975 forward 1975: All persons.
- us1993a: Persons age 18 and older.
